Question for those well versed in digital photography.
I think HDR stands for high dynamic range or something like that. But is this a feature of the camera or is this some sort of software enhancement of the pic?
What exactly is its function? Is it to produce high colour contrase in the pic?
me nub...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imagingThe basic premise is to try and capture as much visual information and detail in a single image. It's not colour contrast so much as simply intensity contrast. I think that wikipedia article gives a decent explanation and lots of visual examples.

HDR is not a camera function, it can be taken with almost any camera with manual exposure i just did a "how to HDR" on google and found this http://hdr101.com/?page_id=4

Photomatrix allows you to merge your exposures together to create a HDR image. You can do the same in Photoshop, but it's easier to do with Photomatrix. All cameras should be able to take pics required for making an HDR, you just need a tripod or something to hold the camera steady. AEB is great, but not needed. This is where I learned how to create HDR's and using Photomatrix http://www.vanilladays.com/hdr-guide/
