Saw a gray F430 yesterday at about 6:30PM west bound on SE Marine Drive near Knight Street Bridge. It had a demonstration plate on. I've been seeing a lot of F430's around lately. There were also quite a bit of 3's there as well. We were all stuck in traffic.  |

Yeah he was probably test driving. It was young guy. Looked like in his mid 20's. Damn, where do they get that kind of dough?

There are no test drives on F430s, the only time I can think of where it has a demo plate is when the car wash guy (usuall a young kid) is taking it to get gas, or delivering the car to the owner.
Most people are on a 6 mth wait list for the 430, currently there is also a "25 over" to secure your order. Yup, the 25 over means 25Gs over the MSRP of $275,000. Don't even get me started on the 50 over for the 300G Spyder....

High dollar premiums for rare sports cars are much more common south of the border. You can sometimes find waiting list spots on Ebay being bid up to high 5 figure sums. Not surprised to see them up here now.

25G more.... so the 275G MSRP car is more like 300G and the 'extra' 25Gs gets raped by the 17% luxy tax too. don't you have to meet certain criteria to be able to be on the waiting list? you can just bid for it?
Not really, just place the deposit (~30Gs) and you are good. I priced a 360 out once and the insurance/running cost scared the shit out of me.... |
