Since this is a Canadian Site, I suggest that the "upcoming events" reflect Canadian holidays and observances, especially something like Nov 11 which honors Canadian war dead.

Nov 11 is Remembrance Day in Canada and Veteran's day in the US.  Current site calendar says "Veteran's Day" is coming up.
