John Simister over at the Independent got his hands on the new Mazda6 on the eve of its launch in the UK and walked away impressed. For those of you who join us in lamenting the lack of Ford Europe products on these shores, he says the car seriously rivals the Mondeo and "feels like an Alfa 159 should, or like a BMW 3 Series would if it were, like the Mazda, front-wheel drive." Pretty high praise,

FULL REVIEW:

"This new Mazda 6 does exactly that, to a wholly remarkable degree. It feels like an Alfa 159 should, or like a BMW 3 series would if it were, like the Mazda, front-wheel drive. It has the precision, fluidity, light-footedness and sixth-sense responsiveness that used to mark out the Peugeot 405 nearly two decades ago. Mazda has been annoying us for several years with the puerile "zoom-zoom" slogan, but the reality really matches the hype. "

That car is gorgeous in white. I love the flowing lines. Gah, I hadn't looked at a 6 image in a while. Forgot how sexy it looks.

I'm pretty sure it will be available in North America. Just that it will be North American-ized. Bigger bumpers, softer suspension etc. Sigh, wish we got things the European way.

Is there going to be a coupe? I've only heard of the sedan/wagon. A coupe would look cool.
