Here is my photo thread.
Will this noob be able to learn how to properly use his camera?
What will this noob have to show in the near future?

or..  will he give up and drop photography as a hobby?  Afro

STAY TUNED (like 6 years..) Cheesy

Gear:
Canon EOS 350D rebel XT.
EFS 18-55m f/3.5-5.6 II USM

these were from before.

Point and shoot with AUTO mode. no photoshop.

I read about HDR photos, was stunned by the quality they produced.  so i decided to give it a try just now, didn't turn out so well.  Perhaps my subject is a little bland (as opposed to something interesting or appealing).  Still learning my settings, created this photo..

critique is much appreciated because there are plenty of pro photographers in here that can teach me to become better Grin

Try playing around in AV mode.

Basically, the lower the number, the blurrier the background gets.
The higher, the more in focus everything will be. But you get longer shutter speeds.

i'm still randomly clicking away figuring things out lol.. still learning about aperture values, underexposures, overexposures, etc..

and yup, i chose to buy the xt because (well it was damn cheap LOL), but i thought it would be a good stepping stone..  seeing as i've never owned any good cameras and have never taken any photography lessons.  It didn't seem very feasible for me to buy something like a 40D or something crazy, considering i only know one feature, which is auto-focus lol

I like both photos Dan.

On the Fossil photo, I would clean the face of the watch. I'm not sure if that is dust or scratches, but I find it a little distracting.

The second photo has very vivid colours.

Great work!
