There are lots of things wrong with Knight St. in general.

So many drivers can't stay in their own lanes when it is straight, and they throw that curve in around 56th Ave. plus not being able to see the light is very unsafe. I've seen big rigs lock it up and the back of their load starts coming around.

True about people not able to keep in their own lane. But it is really safe if people driver SLOWER and NO PARKING on knight st would help

Left turners going up and down the hill are going to get into accidents over and over again. They have to cross 3 lanes, traffic moves at different speeds on all lanes, the first two lanes will stop and then somebody t-bones them in the 3rd lane. And when going down the hill, people signal and brake too late and causes a huge accordion affect.

now that is the main cause of almost all accident on the hill......left turners. They should out right ban left turn from 57th to bridge and vic versa.

[qoute]The bridge deck is uneven and in the winter months gets potholes at the base of the hill. Stay on the left lane and towards the barrier for the smoothest route. Not much can be done about that because the individual slabs are designed for expansion and contraction.[/quote]

that won't make a normal vehicle to lost control. Only those with worn suspension will loose it and wreck...which they should be off the road to begin with.

After the bridge, in Richmond, after the Bridgeport exit, try to stay in the right lane. Lots of puddles after heavy rain can cause hydroplaning. Pay careful attention and you can see where the barrier has taken a few hits, and it's always right after the puddle spots.

good point.....wouldn't surprise if motorist sue fed gov't for not maintaining the hwy after crash.

i guess for my part, i should tell the club people who are on lowered suspension, if you dont want to hear a pretty loud bang, in fact a REALLY loud bang going on the bridge towards richmond, on knight st, before entering the bridge, go slow like 50km~60km (which i believe is the safe speed for that bridge) if you decide to take the left lane, there will be a big dip before entering the bridge, so slow down even more if your on the left lane, the dip is quite hard..

you mean before the merge from marine drive?
on the left lane... i always position my car slightly to the left, close to the concrete wall
that will avoid the holes/dips on the ground

you will have be in the left lane, move left to get on bridge deck and move right in the left lane after Marine drive merge to have the smoothest ride.

You can go 100km/h onto the bridge and not feel that bang on the left lane.
All you have to do is avoid the big pot holes.  Just enter the bridge closer to the concrete divider and you won't hit the holes.

If you watch drivers, you can tell who are the experienced and smart drivers who learn the bridge.

... from the mazdaspeed6 in the past, my own car lost control and slammed into the divider, new 08 lancer flipped while racing an Sti, and i dunno what this 350z was doing, but this was all within that past 6 month, all i've seeen, not counting what i didnt see.. ...

Arent these cars fitted with expensive tires and traction system?

I really like to see the stats of the accidents on that bridge, so the theroy proves.

Just think of all the times a bump had made your steering wheel jerk to one side while driving 80km/h....now imagine that happening at 140km/h.

 I agree

recommand everyone to take "defensive driving course" or "motorcycle school" like pacific rider...
