So i bought a DSLR finally.
I ended up getting the D60 w/ 18-55mm, 8GB HDSC and Lowenpro 140W Bag.
All for $800 bux taxes in, brand new.
I think from what ive read, seen and from what countless photo review websites and camera owners have said, i will be very happy.
I have no skills to date with a DSLR, so I will post some pics once I take some this weekend.

grats todd if dL's photos could improve so drastically from a change of cameras, yours could too! DSLR's are fun, but slowly becoming an addicting hobby that costs too much

Sweet. Where did you get your deal Todd? I've been looking at the D60 with the VR lens but the 3pt focus is keeping me back. Gotta save a little more for the D80.

Cool, dude. That's a great price.
A couple of my friends bought the D60 a year ago, with plans to upgrade. But they are so happy with the D60 that they're not even thinking of upgrading, yet.

Oops, must be the D40 then. I thought the D60 implied 6 mega pixel. D60 would no doubt be better than the D40. Something I would consider for myself, in fact.

D60 is 10.2 same as the D80. only big differnece is the D80 has an in body auto focus motor.
the D60 needs to use AF-s and AF-I lenses with the built in autofocus

Nice to see some more Nikon users here, seems like everyone else is a Canon user. I didn't realize how limited the user base was, sorta like the Mazda3. Check any classified forum and they're be tons of parts for Hondas/Acuras and Canons, but hardly anything for Nikons and Mazdas.
To the OP, post some shots with your new camera.

Sweet, look at getting a Nikkor 50MM F/1.8. They're 150 bucks, and great lenses. I have no autofocus on mine with my D40X but who uses autofocus anyways? :p The 18-55 is great for learning though, I upgraded mine to an 18-135 F/3.5 lens. Will probably try save up for a D300 as a Xmas present to myself later this year
