Is it ok to point out a person by their religion?

I saw a post about someone was a Sikh. How would you like to be pointed out that you are a Christian, or Jewish or Confucian? Or for that matter, Atheist or Agnostic?

If it's done in a non-insulting manner, I don't see why not?

The post in question used Sikh as a way to narrow down the identification of a person.  There was nothing derogatory or malicious about the post.  It's easier to spot a Sikh because of their external adornments, so I don't think it was a stereotyping type of commenting either.
