Update from CKNW, bridge will be closed 4 weeks minimum, possibly 6 weeks or more.

I'm really glad I don't have to commute anywhere near there.  My better half on the other hand is NOT impressed, she has to commute through New West / Queensborough bridge area.

This is going to be hell for a lot of people... It will make my commute worse as well, with more people going over the Port Mann.

I am glad I don't travel anywhere near there......

It's basically going to effect all the major routes connecting Surrey to anything. Highway 1, Alex Fraser, Queensborough, East-West connector as well as the tunnel. People will be spilling over to any possible route they can take.

Part of me is a little bit glad though. Perhaps they could spend some of the time repaving that bridge.

Just heard Port Mann is backed up to 200ST on hwy 1, and the route that I take (152ST) is backed up about 10 blocks further than what it usually is

I left at 7:30, a half hour early, and it to work at 9am, half hour late. Yay!

Highway 99 northbound was backed up to King George highway. I did stop and go for 20kms to the tunnel. My leg hurts like a motherfuck from clutching in. I tried to keep some distance so I wouldn't have to go-brake-go. But every other fucker thought it was their opportunity to cut ahead. Meanwhile the dickheads behind me thought I was slow and started tailgating me.

Honestly, unless you are coming FROM Surrey, people won't understand how bad this is. There is so much traffic from Surrey, White Rock and Langley that makes the commute each day north of the Fraser and this is going to be a HUGE pain in the ass every day for the next 6 weeks.

The backups I heard today were unbelievable. 72nd ave backed up past scott rd to get down to alex fraser.

152nd st backed up to 96th avenue. A woman called in to news730 to say she made it four blocks in one hour trying to get onto the port mann.

Unfuckingbelievable.

I left Surrey at 0540 and got downtown at 0645. Not bad, about the same time if there would be an accident on the Port Mann.

Wow, if I had to commute from Surrey right now, I'd be seriously looking at transit.  Yes, the bus sucks, but sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for 3 hours a day is worse.

Too bad our transit system is such a goddamn joke.
