we have a search function ??    j/k

I remember on the sr20de forum, we used to have a "search nazi" who would keep posting "do a search" as a response to minimize the repetitive clutter.  It was quite effective cuz then it would also cause others to stop posting a repeat response as well   Wink

We need to do this together if we are to make the forum work the way it's supposed to (ie, it's not meant to be a live-mass chat.  There is a reason as to why we keep all the history)  Smiley

the biggest reason for this is when I, (yes im using an "I" statement) go on this site, I always check show unread posts from your last visit. I keep getting inunandated with 3-4 differnt threads that already exist, have been moved, merged or deleted. And now that time has become a precious commodity for me. It wastes my time to filter through all the crap that should already be filtered.

well lets do this instead.

who ever sees a question that can be easily found by search, give them the nudge to use the search function.
once everyone else sees that, then there's no need to continue to give the violator more abuse lol.

To nudge in the right direction.

"This has been discussed before, try using the search function using keywords such as..."

Great idea......lets work together.

except we have member like this

Heaven forbid he asks for help!

ask for help is different from being lazy to search. Roll Eyes

If you didn't want to "help" you didn't have to, plenty of other people answered at no harm to you.

We need this "smiley" back in the list...

New people just need a little help, they don't need to be abused - at least not until they've been members for a while.  Then they're fair game!   Evil

Haha I'm on the fence with that one Tim.

Maybe that pic w/o domo-kun with a little helper saying what to search for below it would be ideal.

good point, but if they are new,
how would they know that its encouraged that they should be using the search function.

that's why we should just "try" one member mentioning that the search function is available regardless of other members.
everyone was a newb at first, so might as well give them a chance and not scare them away.
if it continues, then we would have to do something about that.  There's not point yelling and screaming at someone if they
dont' know that they are in the wrong.
