I know that this was brought up a long time ago (by me Smiley ) but I want to re-iterate it once more for you to seriously consider:

When posting in threads, it really really important, in my opinion, to stay on topic.  More and more lately I'm finding that a lot of the posts are going way off topic.  I'm guilty of that as well.

I also realize that this forum is still very much in its infancy and that we don't really have a lot of technical topics.  But something as simple as "Mazda5 roll call" has turned into a gas price discussion after just a few posts Huh

My suggestion would be for everyone to stay on topic as much as possible for all threads other than those in the Lounge (gotta have a place for the post whores Wink )

What do you think?

I agree. I have nothing against the post whoring per se.

However should this site grow, and new members go searching  for topics that have already been discussed, they will often stumble upon lengthy unrelated conversations.

Again, this is nothing against the whoring itself, but merely something we should think about to benefit future members. I too am guilty of helping threads wander and will do my best not to stray from the subject at hand.

...

Actually, the "Mazda5 Roll Call" turned into window tinting discussion before turned into hockey talk ( http://www.bcmazda3.com/forum/index.php?topic=1555.0 ).? The cruise thread was the one turned into gas prices discussion.? I don't care about the latter since it's in the Lounge anyway.? But Tony, I got your point.

From now on, off-topic posts will be deleted or locked, depending on my mood Evil

Please don't get me wrong (and I definitely don't mean to sound condescending or anything like that).  I personally really really like the back and forth exchanges that we have on this forum.  It is really unique of any forums that I've been on and I don't want to suppress that in any way.  I get a lot of laughs from that.

It's just that we'll end up with members asking the same question over multiple threads if the previous ones have gone sideways.  That's all.

I hope you understand...

Tony, we (at least most) get what you mean.....we totally understand.

I too find it important to for some threads to keep clean especially the technical (recall, TSB, or DIY) threads to be kept straightly info only.

I once saw a mandolin jump on a carrot and turn it into ice cream. Then I ate it.

Just kidding. I will do my very best to stay on topic while whoring. I swear. Grin

Tony - I will refrain from my whoring!  Thanks for bringing that up, I have noticed it as well!
