Yes, I like the return to "understated sedan" as well, which is my first impression from looking at the new model.
Not sure what to think of the hood - right now I find that's the one element that's "off" from the overall look - the sculpted lines seems lifted from their cloth car concept.
Also, from the photos here, the rear fender seems to bulge inappropriately depending on the lighting/paint?

Looks nice, but man what's with this push by every car manufacturer to make cars bigger?

The new 5 looks like a 7 when compared to the previous gens.

I was thinking that too but wasn't quite sure. The current 7 series is huge.

i really liked the previous generation, this one is nice as well. the first pic is cool, showing all the generation of the 5 series. I find it kind of cool that each 2 generations (first 2, mid 2, last 2) share a lot of similarities, but is completely revamped afterwards.

Exactly what I was thinking. The new 5 is kinda generic but also has a bit of visual length, making it look more like a 7 to my eyes. I guess in about 10 years time, the 1-series will be as big as the current 3-, the 3- the size of the current 5- etc etc... to the point that BMW will have to introduce the minus-one series as their new small car. :p

I saw a 5 series Gran Turismo, it doesn't look as bad as the photos and certainly not as bad as the X6, but man it's huge, and the lack of a proper front bumper concerns me although BMW must have surely thought that their owners never rear end anyone, riiight?

I see quite a few running around here as BMW's Western Canada office is down the road. They have grown on me... a bit.
However, keep in mind, these things sticker for $80-$90k. Wayyy too steep.
