Saw this on another board:

Quote
People have been asking what this is in the "2010 trends" thread, so I thought I'd make an appearance thread about it.  I suppose it's like any other wacky JDM style (i.e. shakotan, yanky, vanning-zoku, Dekotora, etc), but I think this one is tits.

I first stumbled across this back in July on the Japanese RS Watanabe website in the "owner car" section.

It's been referred to as "Youga Base" style, "Hentai Vans", and a few other things, but apparently they just refer to their cars as "Dajjibans", or Dodge Vans.  The Katakana to search for is "ダッジバン".

If anyone finds any new blogs, sites, or images related to the Dajjiban thing, post them in here. I want moar.

The Basics:
-Dodge Vans (I've yet to see anything else, but maybe they don't get other American vans over there)
-Lowering
-Deep dish low-offset wheels (often 6-lug RS Wats, but I've seen Diamonds and others)
-White lettered tires
-minimalist interiors (CF, racing wheels, not typical van stuff, lots of period American stickers, very eclectic)
-V8 performance mods

They appear to be actually tracking these vans, which is absurd, but ****ing rad.

Here's the "Youga Base" blog site:

http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/r_q_collectibles

Some of the images I've found (I've saved tons):

Trackday at Ebisu Circuit.  Obviously didn't work out so well for everyone, lol.

Is this normal engine placement?  Really this far back?  I guess the hoods are so short..

Interiors

Suspension shots: (I wonder if it's the same "swift" that makes bike shocks)

The ubiquitous Youga Base tag:

I want this shirt so bad:

Again, people are probably going to hate this to death, but I thought it was something new.  So JDM it's USDM, lol.

More pics:

Funny perv references/Engrish:

Olive drab makes it look like a transport vehicle from "08th MS Team" or something.

I have to look and see if the USDM vans have these same tails.  Looks different for some reason.

Guy built a model of his van:

Discuss.

Ah, leave it to the Japanese to always start these new trends. I guess they were bored of slamming Honda Odysseys right the ground. lol.

I remember seeing a Yukon or Denali or something slumming around Shinjuku with a bunch of guys presumably trying to pick up chicks. Good times.

Speaking of which, the new movie "A-Team" is going to be released in June this year.
And the original theme song is once again stuck in my head...

Where did the term "rape van" come from?

Probably because the original "boogie" vans usually had a bed in the back and the saying was "If this van's a rockin' don't come a knockin'!"  Geez, they are 35+ years behind or just reviving for nostalgia.  I had a 75 Dodge B200 108" wb, 318 cu. in.  with an SP2P Edelbrock maniforld with a Carter 500 cfm, Hooker headers with Dual 2 1/2" exhaust with a cross-over pipe dumping both on the right in front of the rear tire, B&M shift kit in the automatic, Quickor Engineering sway bars front and back, 15x8 rims with 255/60R16 BFG tires, 3.73:1 rear with Suregrip, leather wrapped GT racing wheel and rear tinted opera windows.  The lettering was all decked, it had a custom stripe job and fiberglass front air dam. The engine cover had a quilted cover and was relined with silver reflective insulation.  The interior was all upholstered in black quilted naugahide, tower back swivel captains chairs with armrests, a double bed that converted to a table and it had a little sink and tank and a 12v frig.  I did all the work on it except for the paint but I laid out the stripes.  Damn near brings a tear to my eyes. It had white Keystone Sno-mags and the main paint color was DT8192 (Westinghouse van color).  I have a picture of it somewhere.  Total gas was 30 gal main and 12 gal auxiliary.  Edmonton to Vancouver non-stop.  Took it over to Long Beach on the Island several times.

2 questions:

1)Am I the only one who thinks that spending this kind of money on vehicles like this (especially in Japan!) is kinda stupid?

2)What's with the MS Paint (oil?)cooler added to the grille?

when they have access to the stuffs we don't.....it is cool to have. Works the other way around. For example, they buy USDM Integra Type R front end to be different.
