EDIT: They're skipping the 2011 model year, 2010s will be available until early 2011. 2012s will be available in early 2011.

Just found these photos of what's expected to be the refreshed 2012 Mazda 5... the exterior has a slightly revised front end complete with the signature gaping wide smiley mouth as expected, side panels gain some sculpted lines that flows into the fenders which I personally really like, and revised what I think more conservative but more elegant tail end. The car does not appear to get longer but to many that's a good thing anyway. I would've liked to see it a little bit wider, I think the 5 is narrower than the previous and current gen 3.

The dashboard appears to take many cues from the current Mazda 3 which is a very good thing, but other than that, the rest of the simple yet functional interior appears to be unchanged other than a few styling refinements.  We're all hoping that the new Mazda 5 finally gets its 7th seat (3rd second row seat), either in split folding bench format or the fold-in-fold-out karakuri seat.

Expect the 5 to come standard with the 2.5 (up from the current 2.3) mated to a 6 speed manual or 5 speed auto with sport mode.

Looks ok to me (other than the corporate smile).  The lines on the sides are interesting; but I find the straight line that cuts across the top part of the side panels to clash with all the curvy ones.

Dunno about those wavy lines... but I do like the new tail lights.

Mmmmm... 6-speed.

Over-stylized, just like everything in Mazda's 2010 lineup.

Yea but if they did manage to fit in a 7th seat (so I can carry 5 people + a lot of stuff, 6 people + stuff, or 7 people + a little bit of stuff, vs. 4/5/6 right now) and really comes with a 2.5 and 6MT, I am so trading my 2007 in for a 2012. These were the two reasons I didn't buy a brand new 5 in the first place, anticipation that these two things I really want will come in a redesign/refresh.

wow i'm starting to see a trend here..  cost cutting.  Design all the cars to have this hideous smile so that we can save money on the grille pieces by mass producing one style!

New photo from the Zoom Zoom magazine.

Has anyone seen the refreshed Mazda 6? No smile, just a more aggressive front end.

the mazda6 was designed before the concept of ugliness and was released in late 2008 or early 2009.  They started the ugly smile later.  That said, i expect the 'refresh' of the current mazda6 to rock that ugly smile soon lol.

oooh not bad.. maybe they couldn't accommodate the big ass smile in the existing design?

for those who need a visual comparo.  i quite like those windmill wheels lol.  seems they changed the headlights along with the taillights.  Not digging the new headlights as much as the old ones.

If they had the new Mazda 6 Wagon available here, I would have a new car right now.

+1  Really like the Mazda 6 sport wagon (is that what they called it?) or hatchback... but from the pic, that wagon looks a lot sexier than the wagon of old...
