Not I. Wonder how many of us would choose the Si over the MZ3?
Didn't even think of getting a Civic.

Wow great review. Sounds like Honda has finally realized that they're losing ground and stepped it up a bit.

Somehow the styling still doesn't make me interested. However, I can see how mods can make the car look quite sweet. But man, that torque number is quite low and requiring such high revs....but that's always been Honda.
It's gonna be stiff competition for the Mazda3 no matter what though...

Yeah, low torque, and needs to really rev to make power... but the 6 speed transmission will help with that... more gears means you spend more time in the power band.
Still wouldn't be my choice... but you're right, it'll definitely grab some market share back from the 3 this year, I'll bet.

Hmm, looks are subjective. Better quality? I guess they can't compete with squeaky brakes and non-functioning a/c <cough>.
I'd think twice before passing on blanket statements. How many Hondas have you owned?

I've owned two Hondas (83 Civic and and 89 Accord) and almost a third ('99 Odessey - but ended up with a Sienna).
I really like them. Their quality is second to none and they are quite peppy. I can appreciate that some of us don't like the Honda as they are now often being associated as being "rice" (and they are all over the place)...
Although it is not here yet, had the 06 Civic Si been available when I was purchasing the MZ3, I definitely would not be surprised if I ended up buying the Civic instead....

j/k It's a definite competitor now... I think last year, when I bought... the civics that were available were 100% outclassed by the 3... I don't think that will be the case anymore. Not that the Honda will be better... but it will be a decision, whereas last year, there was no question who the leader was.

Yep, I'd be the first one to argue the previous generation Civic screamed Vanilla. From the pedestrian suspension set-up to the tepid powerplants. However, Honda has come back with something that can compete IMO. As with any new car introducted, I can't knock it until I've driven it.

yes i'll hv to agree that the Honda has come back. the styling just cannot satisfy everyone, but it sure has that futuristic touch in it
it's definitely a competitor, but not everyone's cup of tea...
not my choice tho since insurance is higher and it still suck haha

Just test drove one tonight. Lacks power. Nice stiff steering though. Raining, so I didn't want to push it too hard. The dash is very nice though.

Not a great night for a test drive! What model did you drive? The dash is a far departure from the vanilla method of interior design. I'll have to test drive one soon.

Lacks power? Really? I'm surprised... 197 horses is pretty decent. I guess having a low-torque, high HP engine is like that though... even if it has the ability to go at the top end... it'll still feel sluggish due to the lack of torque (until you really get it reving).

Yeah, as Kevin said, it wasn't the SI. The SI isn't out yet. Still don't think the SI will be worth it, depending on what kind of pricing they're going to have. The interior of the EX I drove was sub-par also. The fabric for the seats were very cheap, but typical Civic. Still can't bad mouth the gauges. Digital looks hot!

Some news articles were suggesting that the Si would start at around C$25k.
