The guest portion is part of the secondary sign-up where it asks which day/time-of-day you want to attend.  That only comes when you actually receive the invite in your e-mail.  At least, that's how it was last year.

ahh i see.. i guess it's like you say, you can invite some random person.. it's beyond your control if they flake out lol.
