I never really wanted a touch screen only device.but after reading some online reviews that said you can type just as fast or faster than a physical keyboard I decided to give it a try.

This is what we're worried about to from switching to a touch screen only device like the iphone or nexus one. But the more I type on the ipod touch, the more I get comfortable. I think my wife will take longer and I'm preparing for endless nights of no sleep as I hear her complain.

you can type pretty fast with the iphone because the T9 corrective system 'generally' makes the correct assumption and corrects everything for you. The only thing is if you are trying to type something different, it keeps on correcting it to what it thinks you should be saying lol.. which is a piss off
I know all carriers have support for this phone already as that has been advertised by Google IIRC. Bell does, and as mentioned earlier, telus does as well.
I saw some guy with one, and he was using some sort of app (i'm not sure if there is one for the iphone, never looked into it) where he stuck his N1 up into the air and it showed where each exact constellation was lol.. that was cool.

I saw that video last night on the Google channel on YouTube. I did post a video in the youtube thread on the app that tells you the bra size of a woman you scan your android phone over. LOL It's probably a joke, but still cool.

The possibilites with android are endless but there's one thing they don't mention. To fully free up the phone u will need to root it. Pretty much the android equivalent of jailbreak. This also voids ur warranty. Something to think about. Also it isn't as user friendly

I called Best Buy about exchanging my phone and now they only switch brand for brand. When I signed up, I could switch to any model my carrier had. Guess people took advantage of this and Best Buy clamped down. Sucks. Now I need to sell my Bold 9700 if I want to switch to anything else and then cancel that Best Buy plan. Unless someone that works there who is in our forums can help!

Has anyone purchased a screen protector or a case? If so where did you get it since I need to get both and was hoping to avoid ordering online.
Wootgasm how did you post the speed result as it only has email speed results when I check. Your speed is better than anything I've seen, the most I've got with telus is 2447kbps download and 1787kbps upload.

If you have the bb 9700 already, I would definitely wait for the new iPhone. I like the nexus one way more than my Pearl, but I would have waited and compared the new iPhone to the nexus one before making a decision if I had a 9700 to begin with.

The 9700 has been the best bb I've owned, and I went through several using my best buy exchange plan. Quality is much better on the 9700.
How about the HTC Hero? Is that a good phone?

speed also varies how busy the network is. Plus if u have someone doing a lot of high bandwidth in the area, u share that bandwidth too. Gotta love how the 3g works, NOT

A friend of mine had a hero and said if was pretty good, but I don't think it comes with android 2.1. I don't like how the bottom of the hero is angled off though.
Yeah I was doing my speed tests near BCIT so maybe their were alot of users in the area. Also it depends on what background apps are running as I found when I turned GPS location off the speed increased.

So how's the experience guys with the Nexus One? I've been reading and watching vids on Android and I'm buzzing.
