Very early, Saturday morning, a couple of us packed into Kevin's (Username) and Jupiter's (kyoshi) cars and started a spontaneous road trip to Oregon. With only a rough idea of where we will be, and when we might get there the adventure began!

Day 1 - Saturday, June 26, 2010
No photos from our departure. It was 4am, Kev and Jup drove while the rest of us slept. Too dark for photos.

But, our first adventure began with style. Washington State Highway Patrol! No photos, because I didn't think it was such a good idea at the time... especially when they thought we had guns! Note to self, FRS radios can look like guns when you are loading batteries into them. Luckily they saw our BC plates and must have realized as Canadians, we don't have guns. The officer and and the 4 squad cars helped us find the best way to Seaside, OR, our first stop.

Woke up briefly while travelling through Seattle just in time to take some random of a motorcyclist. I'm sure many of you have seen the I-5 and how boring it really is, so I will spare you the details.

Humming along I-5 passing by Lacey, WA, breakfast time rolls around. IHOP sounds good. Avocado, bacon and cheese omlette. Delish!

Finally! We are welcomed into Oregon!

Time for a self portrait. Sexy.

We arrive in Seaside, OR and quickly find a hotel to wind down after the long drive. We got a nice view Smiley.

And now, time for lunch. KFC Double Down's and unsweetened iced tea.

Caught a quick glimpse of this beauty while cruising around Seaside.

Since we arrived pretty early, we had time to head to Cannon Beach and have a quick look around. We'll be coming back tomorrow.

On our way back to the hotel, we stopped at the local Safeway to pick up dinner.

During dinner we watched the sun set. Beautiful!

And then the night degrades to Edward Forthands.

And then I will end the first day with an animation of the sunset.

lol ya, not even if I was hungry. I think McDonald's is healthier than that double down!

Haha, I think I posted this before, but the Double Down is actually not as bad as quite a few fast food options out there. Also, it is low carb if that interests you.

Good pics Drrk. Now find some dune buggies to ride!

Did that today in Florence! But no photos yet. I didn't take my 40D for the ride. Kev got some on his PnS. Will upload them later.

Hey Bill, it's Kev.

So far we have stayed at:

Best Western Oceanside Hotel in Seaside. It's older. But if you book an oceanfront suite the views are to die for. Sandy beaches and miles of ocean as Derrick pictured above. Personally, I prefer Cannon Beach for it's attractions. Try VRBO.com and book a house/condo in Cannon beach before hand.

In Florence we stayed at the River House Inn. It's a newer place in Old Town Florence. Excellent location that is walking distance to some good restaurants. Here, we also booked a riverfront room. The water is literally 5 feet from your patio. You can also see the sand dunes across the water. As well, they provided a free breakfast this morning with homemade waffles, yogurt, cereals, boiled eggs etc. It's run by a very hospitable couple.

We went from Seaside/Cannon beach south to Florence. The drive is approximately 4 hours long in spite of a distance of only 250ish km. Much of this route is single-lane and filled with RV's and other travellers. As well, there is a lot of highway along the coastline. The views are stunning and there are many viewpoints to stop at and absorb the natural beauty of the Oregon Coast.

Day 2 - Sunday, June 27, 2010

After a good night of drinking, we woke up late in the day and decided to spend it in Cannon Beach. Unfortunately the weather today was a little overcast, but at least it wasn't raining.

Rollin' from Seaside to Cannon Beach. Couldn't get any photos of Kev's car since I was riding in it.

The cloudy skies gave me some nice moody photos of the beach. Still many many people on the beach.

A little chilly, but we still had a good time.

This is probably the most awesome kite I have ever seen.

Then we ended the night with more drinks, a campfire on Seaside Beach and some pre-Independence Day/Canada Day fireworks!

And what will tomorrow bring?!
