A buddy of mine is organizing a trip to Kelowna BC Day long weekend and I need some help Smiley

Anyone know about the drinking festival/party that's happening on the BC Day long weekend ?

What area should we stay in ?

Any cheap hotels ?

Where should we go party ?

You are thinking of the Center of Gravity. It is a sports and concert filled weekend. Faber Drive, Dragonette and Karl Wold are performing. There is an FMX freestyle comp, jetski races, freestyle mountainbike events, bikini contests, etc. It's a good time.

http://www.centerofgravity.ca/

As for places to stay? Downtown is where it's at. I'm a couple blocks from the beach, and there is never nothing to do.

It all depends on what your budget is, I can help steer you into a pretty cool place to stay.

If you plan on going to Center of Gravity, you can get tickets at clubzone.com

I do suggest you get them soon, as it always sells out completely.

As for a place to stay - You can probably still get a room in the Royal Anne downtown on Bernard ave. Rooms are $189 a night according to expedia.ca  This is about as central as you can get. Keep in mind, the hotel is a little older.. It is also part of our heritage.

http://www.royalannehotel.com/

If you are looking to spend a little more - you can get into the Delta Grand. It is a large and beautiful hotel on Kelowna's beachfront. You can add appx $100 per night over and above the Royal Anne at around $280/night.

http://www.deltahotels.com/en/hotels/british-columbia/delta-grand-okanagan-resort/

If you don't mind being just a hair out of downtown's mess... You can stay at the Coast Capri Hotel. Also a nice place to stay, it's a 20 minute walk to the beach downtown or an $8 cabride should you plan on drinking. Expedia says there is good availability for the $189 a night range.

http://www.coasthotels.com/hotels/canada/bc/kelowna/coast_capri/overview

The Prestige is also right downtown, however expedia says that theyre all sold out. May be worth a call though.
http://www.prestigehotelsandresorts.com/kelowna-prestige-hotel.php

And if you are looking for something cheaper than those... There are a bunch all in this downtown area too, Alpine Lodge Motor Inn, Kelowna Motor Inn, Accent Inn, Oasis Motor Inn. Google will help you with those.

If you are looking for something nice where a few of you can stay (2 bedroom) Discovery Bay is a nice option that not many know about. It is in the heart of downtown, on the boardwalk. Seconds away from the clubs, yet all the amenities of home. $300 a night, which is not bad all considered.

http://www.holidaykelowna.com/Listing/Resorts_%26amp;_Condos_Waterfront/1666.html

And a few B&B's I've found which may be nice - ascending in price. All within walking distance of downtown.

As for what to do?

Flashbacks is a club downtown - theyre hosting the Center of Gravity after parties. Don't dress up, as it is casual and the girls are for the most part white and underage.
http://flashbacksniteclub.com/index.php?page_id=15

Cheetahs showlounge is downtown on Lawrence. It is currently the only strip club in Kelowna. Classy, the dancers have been hit and miss when i've been there.
http://www.cheetahsshowlounge.com/

Level Nightclub - The club that brought Deadmau5 to Kelowna. On Sunday the 1st of Aug they are having a Coronavilla party. Cheap beers and DJ's all night long.

There are wineries everywhere around here that offer daily wine tours.

Summerhill is always nice http://www.summerhill.bc.ca/

Mission Hill never dissapoints http://www.missionhillwinery.com/default.asp

If you are feeling adventurous Kelowna Grandprix has small scale Formula styled cars with nearly 400cc Rotax engines in them. It's a time trial racing style, and is usually fun when with a bunch of guys.

Where to eat?

Raudz is a great place to eat. Has won best of the okanagan many years running.
http://www.raudz.com/RauDZ/RauDZ.html

Earls ontop has a great patio overlooking the lake with gorgeous servers

Sals Prime Steak House - Amazing steaks, perfect atmosphere.

Anything else, just ask.

And the fact that it is right on the beach, you can't go wrong. You are within stumbling distance to EVERYWHERE with a casino right next door. Once you park your vehicle at the hotel, you will likely not need it again until you leave... Unless your going on a wine tour.

I picked up my tickets for Center of Gravity today through clubzone.com and we're going to Saturdays events only. boo fkin yah.

p.s. It's been 36 degrees downtown at my doorstep for appx 2 weeks now and it isnt supposed to let up for a while. Summertime in Kelownafornia. Love it.

full casual. You'll laugh at our clubs, really. Kelownas club motto: lets git drunk, yo. However they are always a good time. Let loose and have fun
