Hey all, Just a quick hi from Victoria, BC. We bought the 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 (True Red) while on vacation in Winnipeg this past June, and we LOVE it. Currently, the fleet includes the MS3 and our 2009 G8 GT (which, sadly we're selling - only REALLY need 1 car and can save the extra $ for a down payment on a house) Looking forward to learning more about the speed, its our first turbo car, and it's good to be back in an import. The G8 is awesome, and doesn't wreak of american auto union BS (seeing as it was made/assembled in Australia ), and it's a HUGE upgrade from my POS lease Pontiac G5 GT and his old G6 GTP. Here's the car =) don't be too hasty on the pictures, the red did NOT turn out in the light, but we needed to take pics after a month of having the car, and only having 2 iPhone pics... that, and we just clay barred, polished and waxed it =) and our little helper we thought for sure once we got back home from our trip to Wpg that we would be taking the eyelids off, but they're really growing on us... ha! the only real issues are the power mirrors, they don't go down/to the right for either mirror due to the wiring shorting out after they were installed (shotty install from the previous owner). They also have condensation in the signal markers on the mirrors, but that might be because they were painted? not tooooo sure. they also have mould in the LED (or - what we thought at first - was a light sensor) on the bottom of the mirror (it's alright though, I'm fine without it working LOL) That, and when we got the tires they weren't balanced properly (not sure if they fell off with the previous owner, or while sitting @ the dealership's lot for a couple of months before we picked it up). SO, we KNEW the BFG KDW's were a loud tire (had them on the G6), so we didnt really think much of the noise... till we got back to Victoria and it was a LOT louder after the 2400km drive home. We need new tires now, they're slightly effed (2 bad wear spots on each tire). SO, if anyone around is selling their speed3 mirrors, we'd be interested in the OEM ones on the car again, if at a decent price. Thanks! - Alison

Allison,
First of all welcome to the forum. Did you intend on buying a car while on vacation? It sounds like there is a story behind that one haha. It looks like the previous owner has done some modifications to the car. The mirrors, eyelids and RX8 wheels and mudflaps are not OEM.
Also, post some pics of your G8! I really like those cars.

No.... we did NOT plan on buying a car while on vacation. We actually drove out there with the G8 just to visit our families out there (we're both from Weinerpeg originally). My G5 was up on it's lease come January 2011 and we were still narrowing down cars (MS3 was on the short list between GTI and GLI), and there was never any at dealerships to test drive in Victoria... just so happened we were on auto trader while we were bored one day on vacation, decided to take it for a rip. FELL in love with it on the saturday, thought about it on the sunday and at the end of day monday we called the dealership with more info. Also called GM to see if everything would line up for returning the 5 a few months early, and it did. So by wednesday we had temp insurance from MPI and drove the car home the following Monday. Man, the drive home was FUNNNNNNNNNN. The coquihalla was like a freaking roller coaster ha! These were taken of the G8 when we first got it in 2008. Since then he's added: HID's, black window trim, all black door handles, debadged, intake, headers, exhaust and a tune.

It looks like the inside of the headlight housing has been painted with some red highlights.

yeah, the guy that owned the car before us did all the goodies/changes to it (we only got it at the end of june). He painted the housing around the light (unless it's an insert, I'll check one of the other 3's in our parking lot), and he also blacked out the turn reflector. That LOOKS nice, but isn't overly practical.

The inside of the rear light housings look painted as well. Calipers painted and window visors added.
