Alright guys, let's not dogpile him.
Sokha, I completely understand that the cause is your bottom line.
However, to bring out a group that size, the club does need notice. Having planned meets for the club for the past 4 years now, I can attest to that. And as much as Abbotsford is not a problem for me, for some people it's not convenient. Our member base in the fraser valley is surprisingly small compared to all the people in the Greater Vancouver area. Does that mean our club won't travel? No! For Revscene, we had members come in from Vancouver Island, Washington State and Kelowna. However, for those people to come out, they need adequate notice and to be honest, a larger event.
In terms of charity, we do our part. We have done annual food drives as well as sponsoring a family for Christmas. This club is very generous.
Unfortunately, in this case, it appears the stars don't align. Location and timing are not in the favour of your event. I don't think we'd be averse to attending an event advertised as a Honda Show 'N Shine. We get a kick out of doing stuff like that. Unfortunately, it didn't work out this time. Perhaps next year!
Either way, all the best to you in running the event! It's for a great cause and I appreciate what you are doing.
Kev

Eh, I thought it sounded like a cool opportunity personally. And the Honda title didn't throw me off at all...But then I'm a Camaro owner on a Mazda3 forum where all the meets are called bcmazda3 meets! haha and although I haven't really been much of a meet attendee (just once for the christmas charity meet), I have enjoyed the forums regularly. (I read here pretty much daily). I woulda signed up but I am currently without wheels right now. So... nothing to show or shine (unless the Bus/skytrain count) & I actually am in school on Sunday morning/afternoons Otherwise I woulda jumped all over this.... especially since I missed out on the Revscene meet again, and am feeling a little carshow deprived. Hope there's a good turn out though! It's for a good cause, and always good to hear about new annual shows to look forward to

I had no intentions of coming here to disturb the peace. And whether my actions or the actions of others have done so, I apologize on my behalf. However i would like to clarify that Derrick CHALLENGED him self when he opened his mouth and said that "50 Mazdas would insult" us at a Honda Dealership. I was civil and said we would love it. Then i get another cheap blow like, "no, its not an insult its a slap in the face"? Strike two! I remained civil and said "ok wel'l bring your 50 crew" and at the end of the day, it helps out alot financially for the families who need it. So shame on you for bringing a good topic south! I understand that most of you have lives like everyone else and this is a bit short notice. If I spent a few hours here and get 5-10 cars to show up, represent an awesome car that dominates in its class, show hundreds of people out there what you have done to all your cars to make each personal, that would be awesome! I don't understand how this could have even gotten to this point. I am rather dissapointed actually. So I will end on this note, Lock the thread if you would like, continue flaming if you want. I know there are a lot of nice people on this forum and if they had free time on Sunday, please come out and show the people that the BCMazda3s are here to support a cause as well as you did in the past with food drives and so forth. Even if only one car shows up, I would be happy to see that Thanks again for your time and support and allowing me to opportunity to post in your community. The Kids, the Families, as well as Canuck Place are thankful! I appreciate the kind words kev! Cheers Guys and Galls and drive safe!

Even though we may not be attending as a group, it should not deter anyone who has the time to participate in this worthwhile event.
And if you do, remember to take pics !!

Well said Kev and TZZ. I think derrick's observation/comment, made in jest, was misunderstood and taken far too seriously and hatchattack3's comment is misquoted. "50 Mazdas at a Honda meet would be inappropriate"; "would be like a slap to the face" makes it an accurate assessment. The word "Honda" is certainly dominant in the poster. JMO Those in the area please keep an eye out for this event, if it happens again next year, as it would be a possible mini-meet, so there is earlier notice of it. Maybe then the gauntlet can be picked up. I hope to make Revscene next year and meet some of you "lowlanders". Is anything happening around Thanksgiving, which is October 11 this year? The leaves are turning yellow and falling here already!

I don't understand why trusting him has anything to do with the Nissan guys knocking us?
Unless it's that guy himself knocking us.

It's a pity certain people need to knock others to boost up their own self-confidence and sense of belonging.

Hey sokha is a good guy. My cousins grew up with him. Big deal he comes on here and wants to incite people to come out for a car event. Fuck the short notice. Not like you guys have anything better to do. And if you do, then don't go it and keep your asshat comments to yourself. Big deal if he sells cars, we have all had to buy our cars from a car salesman st one point. He's just trying to make a living.

As Kev mentioned sufficient notice matters if we were to attempt to gather up a significant number of members and show up as a club. In absence of that, what you will end up with is individual members showing up (as per their current sign-up list). That is not a bad thing but with a bit of organization, the chances are that you'll see a much large group of participants from various car clubs to support this worthy cause.

It comes across as a Honda sales promotion from the ad/poster, not the sponsorship by the dealership of an event to raise money for a charitable organization. If the dealership is merely sponsoring the show and shine then perhaps the purpose should be a little more prominently stated other than a tag at the bottom. Actually quite a few people have probably have other things to do and planned for their weekend; I know I do. That's a little judgmental and presumptuous on your part. Perhaps you might want to rally other forum members to attend. Are you personnally signed up to go? The header in his posting: "The Honda Way's First Annual Show 'n Shine For Canuck Place September 19, 2010" reads better than the poster/ad with the huge Honda car don't you think? I can easily see why the purpose of the event was misunderstood on a first impression.

Hey guys I'm from the S2Ki site. I have been following this and just wanted to add that I think this is going way off the track. Sokha has posted this event in about 8 forums and about half of those are Honda and or Acura sites. This event started out as an S2Ki meet but with the charity being added in he decided to try and get more participation by inviting other car clubs. Where The Honda Way is situated is a Car Mall and the Mazda dealership I believe is right next door. That with the fact that Sokha likes the Mazda3 it only made sense that he post here as well. It may have been late but heck he is trying to get out participation to raise money for a good cause. Cut him some slack. I believe that this is the first event he has planned. Sokha and the Honda Way helped to sponsor my Poker Run for Camp Shawnigan which is a summer camp for severely handicapped kids here on the island. They donated some great prizes like a trip for one to F1 training school in Calgary. 3 trips for two to Las Vegas. They helped my cause to be a success.
Really this is the only forum that has had anything negative to say about the event and I find that surprising. Other than being a bit late (better late then never though) with this posting I don't see anything that he has done to be wrong and I read this thread may times to try and figure out where it went sour.
I too like to see MANY cars and what enthusiasts have done with them. I don't really car what make or model, I like to see the customizations and the mods. That is what this is all about, that and helping some less fortunate kids. Believe it or not Sokha was only trying to do the right thing.
So with all that said, please those that want to come out to the event and help to sponsor a great cause, you're more than welcome. If you can't make it because of the late notice, sorry to hear that but I'm sure The Honda Way will do this again next year. I for one would love to have you out.
