BCMazda3.com hockey team

I think we're a pretty tight knit group here at BCMazda3.com and I think we need to get a hockey team together. I just wanted to get this rolling as registration begins many many months before the season starts. Is anyone interested?

This would be for Winter 2011/12 at either the ASHL in Burnaby 8 Rinks or the Richmond Oval, or in the TAHL in UBC. If there is interest to play in Summer 2011 we could certainly get something going for that. I anticipate we'll play in the lower divisions although if we have enough to form two teams we could have one higher division team as well. Fees are about $732 to $765 a player depending on which league we end up signing up for and that's for 28 games and 2 guaranteed playoff games... eight months to save up for a 25% deposit for those interested! Jerseys (one road and one away) and socks could be as little as $100 a person for basic no frills jerseys with a logo and number, I think up to $250 a person for fancy RBK jerseys. This will be discussed later as well as potential fundraisers and sponsorships to help offset the cost of the season.

This is not a commitment at this point just a feeler, the commitment will come in May with a deposit, February-ish for Summer league (about $300/person for 12 games and 2 guaranteed playoff games). Priority will be given to BCMazda3.com members first, and friends second (I have a buddy who wants to play). So basically if you are interested, just reply with the position you prefer to play and if applicable a second position you wouldn't mind playing (if you're only a LW, just put LW), and your skill level from E to A:

(E) - Beginner (less than a year experience)
(D) - Few years experience, started playing as an adult or played as a kid (less than 5 years experience)
(C) - Played up to Midget Hockey (5-10 years experience)
(B) - Played up to Junior Hockey (10-15 years experience)
(A) - Professional

If you're a beginner and are interested in playing, talk to me! Knowing how to skate is a good start, going to Stick & Puck sessions is a next step, and I envision the more experienced guys giving some mentorship.

My son isn't eligible to play for another 3.5yrs. He's a defencemen, playing midget rep for Richmond.  He turns 16 in Dec.

..I can play goalie aswell. No longer have player gear. Played beer league hockey for the past 5 years. Mostly roller. Been playing ice the last two years (in net).

I'm currently playing on 3 teams right now, 2 in ASHL and 1 in Richmond. Richmond league is called: ACE

ACE league runs from October - Dec then again from Jan - May (two payment sessions). For a team of 12 players, I paid $190 in league fees; 1 game/week with playoffs. The league is still fairly new (only it's second season this year), so there's only 9 team right now and the skill level ranges.

As stated above, I'm also playing for two teams in ASHL this winter and play in the spring/summer for another team from my previous work. I find ASHL or Coast is really expensive in terms of league fees; but I know that's because of the better ice times. ACE League ice times are Friday/Saturday between 9 and 11 start time.
