Well I picked myself up a 2009 Honda Ruckus. Afro  went with the matte grey color.

Been wanting one for a long time now, but with all the talk of the deals on the 09's I couldn't say no anymore.

So 2 more wheels in the stable.  Super fun so far, I haven't taken a real cruise on it yet, and it's too late/dark/cold out to snap any pix.. I'll share some later.. Nothing interesting as it's all stock atm.

Not much time left to have fun b4 the miserable weather hits but I'm lookin forward to the clear days!

I do wanna stretch it! Gonna play with it stock for a little b4 I rip it to bits though Wink We'll see how long that lasts.

I want some pegs/new seat+lowered seat/handle bars/light guard to start out   a stretch n fatty rear n more power are things I'd love to do but I don't think I'll mess with that level of modding just yet. This things awesome already stock Tongue

I hope it is clear all next week! Stoked.

As for how much,  It was 2199.99 + fee's... They had some handling+PDI+freight+something fee of 440... which I think was high... The total out the door was approx 2900+   Picked it up at Holeshot in langley.. Looked like they had 2 more blacks & a couple red.

The guy @ honda center in burnaby quoted me at 2469.60 taxes in out the door for a red one...   and 2739.60 for a black one... coulda saved myself 200 i guess... but holeshots closer... & a friend of mine complained about honda center.

Carter motorsports said 2299.99 + freight/pdi/tax/handling etc... but I didn't get a total for all those fee's from them. and they're even further from me.. so I stayed close to home.

I don't wanna sleep now tho... Wanna go ride Sad

I'd be game for group rides if more of you have Rucks fo sho!

I think the olympibad meet that just past... did me in temptation wise. looked like a lot of fun.. too bad I missed out on that! one of the other Camaro forum guys has a ruck too n posted a buncha pix/vids on facebook..    Derrick went along too with the camo ruck eh? hehe

May have to con the neighbor into pickin one up too, he seemed tempted already

Haha, yeah I went along for the ride on Friday night I think? It was fun.

Lok is a cool guy. Rides his Ruckus from Coquitlam all the time instead of taking his Camaro. LOL.

LoL I haven't met Lok in person yet, met him over on the Camaro forums and talked a little on facebook... He's been really a cool guy to talk to.

Randomly a couple days ago while I was on the bus goin to school I spotted Lok cruising across the bridge on his Ruckus amongst all the traffic with his Camaro jacket on! haha   recognized em from the pix he posts up all the time...

Thought it was funny... especially since just before I left I was reading up on the forums to see how many/if any ppl use their Rucks over those very bridges. And I generally don't expect to recognize ppl that I haven't met before.

and lol @ those custom scooters. I've seen a lot of em around the net, the akira one is cool as heck,  but that one with the VW van side-car is hillarious!! I'd rock that for sure.

I've gone over the Oak Street bridge and it is fine with 60km/h limit so you are safe. Been over the Alex Fraser and that is not fun at all. The Massey Tunnel is not too bad.

Patullo bridge should be ok since most people drive slower as it's already scary to drive over 60 on that bridge!  If I had a Ruckus I would ride it every where especially early weekend mornings for cruises when traffic is low. So tempting but $3000 is still a lot for something that I can't use in the winter or when it rains a lot. My macbook pro cost that much 3 years ago! Cheesy

3g is a chunk... it'd be less if not for all the bogus fee's. and be way less if you get a used one n buy privately. I think I read some lucky guy pickd up the same model as Derricks for 500 bucks.. cuz some old lady had it sitting in her garage.. find an old lady with a garage!! haha   I'll write a review after I've had more use out of it.. but currently I'm pretty pumped and thinking it was a worth while grab.

gas savings is easily gonna pay for the scooter in a year or less for me guaranteed.. it's cheaper per month than my bus pass, or cheaper per month than driving my car.... n altho i won't use it all the time especially in the crap weather... i'll get enough use that it makes practical sense for me.

helmets can be crazy expensive tho! damn. first one I picked up was like 800 bucks. I'd be out riding now but I obviously didn't take any of those helmets. was gonna have a look at some today.. just gotta figure out a good place to go n find a nice selection. I don't wanna completely cheap out.. It's my head we're talkin about... But 800 seemed high. Found lots online but then I hafta wait for delivery.

Anyone know somewhere with a good lot to choose from? And maybe some input on what a reasonable price range might be for a good quality helmet?    I am looking for full face.

If you get brand like Arai, it will cost you a pretty penny! But in general, helmet you buy from any store is safe enough to ride your scooter. The more expensive ones will have nicer vents, paint..which is all about fashion.

The painted ones can look pretty sick... but I was thinking a higher quality with a simple solid black or color finish would probably save cost/increase quality.

Arai & Shoei were up there in price.       Icon/scorpion/HJC all have cheaper ones.. i'm not too worried about the name. more about the quality of material that is designed to go between my skull and a hard object.. worst case scenario.

Congratulations! Need pics soon!

The only bridges I would avoid is the Alex Fraser and Port Mann. I would also avoid 2nd Narrow and Massey Tunnel at night when traffic flow is faster, and I remember my (stock) BWS had trouble going faster than 50 on the Stanley Park Causeway towards Lions Gate Bridge.

I sure miss filling up the tank once or twice a week for $2 each and going 100km on a tank (back in 2002 when gas was 65 to 70 cents a litre).
