Well, I mentioned that I got out of the Camaro, and into an automatic. Well on October 18th I cut a deal using my Camaro as a trade-in.

I was between the Toyota Tacoma and the Ford Raptor. Practicality vs what I really wanted.

Against my better judgement, I went with the Raptor as my family/friends were convinced that I would regret settling on the more practical choice in the long run.

Anyways, I'll have to tip my schedule more in favor of working to recoup some finances in light of this decision but it is done and I am glad it's over with. And pretty happy to be back in a truck and out of the Camaro.

I absolutely love the truck ! It's way bigger in every way, but due to the increased visibility I find it is a lot easier to manage than the Camaro was. I feel safer, and I am not wasting it by leaving it locked up in the garage everytime it's cold or rainy outside.
Infact.. It won't even fit in our garage!  So it's outside next to our other truck.

I've been driving it daily to do everything, feel a lot safer, and don't feel that I have lost ANY of the fun factor that came with the Camaro... Infact I am having a lot more fun having rid myself of the restrictions.

Mileage currently is about the same as the Camaro was before I had broken it in.... so I expect that mileage will increase a little bit. And be around the same or slightlyyy worse than the Camaro was.
On the bright side, I have the option of using 87 octane or premium rather than being restricted to 91-94 octane (as in the camaro)

My insurance should drop by about 600 dollars per year compared with the Camaro... However that was with the Camaro only insured as a pleasure vehicle... Whereas the Raptor is ensured as my work/school everything in between vehicle...

So better coverage, less restrictions, and less cost.

Of course it will be a few years before my savings add up to make up for the hit I took on the Camaro.... But I am going to get a LOT more use out of this and now I can tug my Ruckus out on camping trips Tongue

all around super happy with the vehicle choice. It's a much better fit for me than the Camaro was.. Loved the car but it was a PITA.

My couple complaints with my purchase.....  I managed to over look a paint bubble which I mentioned in the "Exterior" section...  So I had already driven the truck home by the time I noticed this....  The other complaint was another fault on my behalf.. I over looked that the new contract we had drawn up had incorrectly listed the mileage at 10km rather than the 100+km that was on the previous contract.
The truck had about 120km upon delivery...   Not sure if this effects me much...

The paint is the issue I am most concerned about though.. So looking into how I can find out if this was damaged and repaired by the dealer or if it came out of the factory through all of the quality assurance checks... this way...

And wondering... if I can get my warranty work done privately or if it has to be done thru a Ford dealership....

Anyways without further adieu...

That looks great! How does the suspension feel on-road?

The suspension feels fantastic on road, I was suprised just how comfy of a ride it is regardless of the terrain. I haven't done anything crazy off road yet but I've been on paved and off paved surfaces to test it out a little.

One adjustment in on-road feel for me is the Tires.  My turn radius feels fantastic compared with the supercrew lariat and visibility makes it much easier to manage than the Camaro which is great..   But the tires can feel a little squirrely in the turns with the fat AT rubbers.

In the Raptor.... the suspension certainly feels a lot looser... which reduces confidence in cornering a "little" with the added roll..   Abrupt stops can feel pretty weird.. A little springy. But I think the confidence is just a matter of adjusting to the feel of the new suspension. It is a completely different feel than anything else I've been in.

Between the suspension and the seats though, I have found that it is doing wonders for my back/neck problems... I had a lot of issues driving in the other vehicles for longer periods.. But so far I am fairing much better and not in as much pain. I want to put thes seats all over my house too.. lol.

Definitely a nice truck, I bet it gets just as many looks as the camaro.  If anyone is interested in one, I saw a blue one on Craigs.  http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rds/ctd/2021579080.html

Thanks for the kind words Tongue

Aha... no lowering but I have seen photo shopped lowered Raptors... didn't actually look half bad. Better off slamming a regular f150 and throwing on fender flares though rather than paying for the suspension Tongue

Sports car to big truck is definately a leap, but feels more natural to me having driven trucks for a much longer period of time.

Couple more pix.    I still haven't taken new ones yet, I'll share more later Tongue

I got the 6.2 yeah. I am very happy with the power. It certainly gets up n goes quicker than you expect from a truck this heavy. Kinda like a football player running Tongue     The transmission is much better than the 5.4 transmission but it could be better still. Some situations on the lower speeds the tranny seems to be stuck in too high of a gear. and once in a while the gear hunting is less than ideal.. Nothing unbearable, but certainly not perfect. Enough to keep me happy though.

The engine & exhaust sound is awesomeeeeeeee........   I am in love with the sound.. 10x more impressive than what I had in the Camaro.

I think the transmission would be the only thing I'd like to change.. Next year has the semi-manual tranny... I would have liked to have seen a full on REAL manual option.

I believe the very base model 6.2L MSRP's at 50k

You can still find some 5.4L's for low to mid 40's

Once you add on some of the other luxury features they add up quick..

Other options that I didn't get were...   Moonroof, navigation, backup camera, graphics.

Those options woulda added another 6 grand or so on to the tag.

Very nice.  Congrats.
I would have passed on those options, too.
