Hey guys,
Just a thought, but I think as a car club and the mass amount of people we have, would be maybe a good idea to organize a mass volunteer for something like Operation Rednose.
It's just a thought, but would great for the club, we have the cars, and it's really a good cause in my opinion.
I think the local police would also look well upon the tuner community for this.

Let me know what you guys think...

Hi Mike,

This is a good idea. Can you elaborate on what is involved in volunteering for Operation Red Nose? I'm assuming mileage is re-imbursed.

What kind of safe-guards are in place to protect the driver?

There are three volunteers... the driver of the drunk person's car, a person to come with the driver of the drunk person's car, and a third person in a second car. My boss does this every year and my wife's done it before, it's never usually a problem as most of the callers are middle class to affluent people responsible enough to actually call the service, and he's gotten to drive some REALLY COOL cars like a couple of Jaguars and an AMG. I'd be up for it.

Also another idea... Habitat for Humanity? Would be a great chance to get the entire bcmazda3 team together.

I looked at Habitat for Humanity as we did it as a team building exercise at work.  It was a great experience and a lot of run.  It was not clear to me though whether they are interested in one-time volunteers.  We actually had to pay them for our team building exercise.

Like I said, I don't know the details, but I've been exploring volunteering options as my work has a 5 day paid volunteering program.
Operation Rednose is pretty big out east (Operation Nez Rouge as it's known) and is really a good chance to prevent drunk driving during the holidays.

Sorry, I didn't see you say that you didn't know the details.

I just looked at the calendar of operation for Delta/Richmond, Tri-Cities and Langley/Surrey and I'm totally booked for each of the days remaining (10th, 11th, 17th, 18th and 31st).

If someone wants to volunteer, I would suggest sending in the application form ASAP.
