So since the east coast has EECMM (Epic East Coast Mazda Meet) every year, i thought why the heck not do a nice big West Mazda Meet! Once a year, 5 days, different locations each year, just a big old good time!
Try to make the trek if you can, take a few days off work (for Canadians this is a long weekend, so it should be easy to make time). Lots of time to plan from now until then, so lots of time to make money and make travel arrangements. There is lots of lodging, and based on interest we can book a block of rooms at a hotel, or a campground... depending on input.
Let me know what you all think!
here is the time estimates to Kelowna BC from some major "Mazda Forums" locations:
-Edmonton AB - 11.5 hours -Calgary AB - 7.5 hours -Vancouver BC - 4.5 hours -Seattle WA - 5.5 hours -Portland OR - 8.5 hours -Salt Lake City UT - 18.5 hours -Chino Hills CA - 23.5 hours
Come One Come All!
Plans: (most TBA as the date gets closer)
July 28th, Dinner and chill time for persons already there. July 29th, Cruise, meet and greet, TBA July 30th, TBA (potential show and shine, cruise, beach, booze etc.) July 31st, TBA (last full day, "The Last Supper", etc.) August 1st, Official Roll Out (see ya next year)
look into it, it will be a blast for sure!
UPDATE:
Day 1 (July 28, Thursday) is an arrival day, for those who want to be there early and take in an extra day, there will be no major planned events today.
Day 2 (July 29, Friday) is main arrival day, with people flowing in from all over western Canada and the NW United States, with a meet and greet social style event, probably just in a restaurant or hotel lounge (age dependant, will figure location out once all persons are signed up and ages are known. This is the first day with planned events, try to make it out for today if at all possible!)
Day 3 (July 30, Saturday) there may be people rolling in this morning, and this is the show and shine day (working on a sponsorship deal for trophies/plaques) show and shine from 10am – 4pm, location depends on amount of persons interested, there will be voting! Beach front parking lot, or something of the sort. Photos/videos/etc. whatever you like! Lets see those Mazdas! In the evening, quite possibly do a large bbq or go to a restaurant complete with AWARDS CEREMONY! Later in the night, go to a bar, hang out, (did you meet a cute girl? You know how it is!)
Day 4 (July 31, Sunday) Cruise Day! We will have a nice SLAM FRIENDLY cruise route planned out starting around 11am, who knows how long it will be yet… “The Last Supper” some people may roll out tonite to get home for work in the AM, others may spend one last night in the glory of Kelowna, and roll out in the AM.
Day 5 (August 1, Monday) Roll Out day, after breakfast and a potential last cruise, most of the remaining people will leave back home for the work week… see ya next year!

OMG, only 7hr 17min from Jasper, AB, to Merritt and over the connector, where we'll already be staying. Are you just in the planning/organizing stage or have you got a sponsor and a location? "Wild Western Canadian Mazda Meet" in the "Rockin' Okanagan"

still in the planning stages, not sure who to look for for sponsorship, but going to be bringing it up with a few companies, any ideas?
also, lots of interest on MazdasNW, so lots of seattle/washington guys will probably be making the trek up!

Maybe post on the Okanagan Valley Chat thread. Check out the local Mazda Dealers there and in Kamloops. down_hill_dog can maybe give you some direction and advice. BTW you may have to shorten your signature height/crop your picture.

This sounds really interesting. Looking forward to the details. btw, as zoomerboomer mentioned, please resize your signature pic to be no more than 100pixels in height. Thanks Also, one single thread in the meets section (as you have here) is sufficient. No need to post in other sections as well.

Sorry, I should have been more clear with my suggestion that you post in the Okanagan Valley Chat thread. I meant post there seeking assistance from members from there with your meet and maybe directing them to this thread. July 29th is Friday and the 1st is Monday, which I looked up on my non-BCMazda3 2011 calendar; that has no Mazda3 pictures! I might add!

CelicaTech has an annual Run of the Ogopogo Meet about that time of year in Vernon which includes a meet and greet Friday, cruise to Kelowna Saturday on both sides of the lake, and Show and Shine Sunday where one of the member's cars, a 76 Celica in immaculate condition, won top 10. We were just there for 48 hours, was long enough for us, but staying at a campground would be heaps cheaper and more fun. We stayed with close friends of ours from Seattle at the hotel (group rate) and altogether the weekend cost us a good $450 still with meals and gas.
Great idea but 48 hours is probably best, it's still quite a time and financial commitment.

Original Post UPDATED!
if you want to only do 48 hours it is very possible to arrive friday evening, and leave sunday evening while still getting 95% of the events under your belt! just with people coming from Edmonton (myself included) and seattle, possibly Cali, having it a bit longer will make it more "worthwhile" to make the 11-14 hour trip... more feasible if you will...
i am trying to accommodate everyone i can here tho, so let me know what you think of the "schedule" VERY ROUGH DRAFT!

Still fine tuning some details, I will be booking a block of rooms rather soon, to confirm we can get enough rooms in one place, I will also work on a better price for the rooms, as there will be a block booked.
Spread the word, the more the merrier.
I am also working on arranging Parking Lots (for show and shine) and looking into making it a 3 day instead of 5 (I would be there 5 days, to ensure things run smoothly, and others are welcome for the first 2 aswell!)

Have you looked into booking the park at Knox Mountain for the show and shine?

It's decent, slam friendly, and, seeing how it's a city park, I'd give the city a call. They have the hillclimb there every May long weekend. So if anbody rolls in with a dropped car, there won't be any issues.

Cancelled until summer 2012, due to inability to book a large parking lot and block of hotel rooms.
keep watch for the 2012 WMM thread coming soon
