Rivera's lawyer, Noah Kushlefsky, says the feature lacks adequate warning and didn't stop Rivera from inadvertently leaving her car running, even though the fob was separated from the car by both distance and time. http://www.king5.com/news/technology/Keyless-ignition-fobs-may-pose-deadly-health-hazard-115305644.htmlI could see if it had a remote start ,that was accidentally activated, but to say you " leave it running "?

I've never had nor used that type of key. That being sad, it would be pretty difficult for me to not notice my car is on.

How do current cars operate with push button start? How do you turn off the car? I guess with the key ignition, it's been engrained in us to turn of the car to take the key. This sounds like this person just parked the car and left it running.....

You just push the button again to turn it off once it's in park. There's an alarm that chimes when you get out with it running. She needs either louder exhaust or an automatic ignition kill feature.

No, you can't move the car out of park unless the fob is by the car.

Being a professor and school superintendent.....maybe she should get the HS hybrid. Engine is off when the car goes less then 10km/h. You just can't fix stupidity. So they should put a warning sign on the gas pedal too? These lawsuits can only happen in the US.

Its like how the hell do people leave their lights on with a newer car? the damn thing tells you that you left your lights on and how can you not only not hear the buzzer, but can't see the lights when you walk away? People are just damn stupid sometimes. Though, the corvette actually does shut itself off if the keyfob goes too far away unlike many other ones.

She needs either louder exhaust or an automatic ignition kill feature.
That is what the lawsuit is saying. I realize that is what they are contending, but don't you think that maybe she had brain damage before the CO poisoning, being a school superintendent and professor. It neglects to mention whether she is blonde! "He claims Toyota failed to set up a "shutdown" switch in the Lexus vehicles that can be turned on or off with the touch of a button." This in the article is wrong! She failed to push the button and turn it off. "...and provides multiple layers of visual and auditory warnings to alert occupants that the vehicle is running when the driver exits with the key fob" I can lock all my cars with either a key or the fob and leave them running. Perhaps the article is poorly written. The door key and ignition key are usually different. There is no cure for stupidity! BTW, good one derrick.

Hey, the Americans didn't get rich by admitting their own mistakes... it's always someone's fault.

Like Toyota's electronics were cleared of any wrongdoing in the "sudden acceleration" incidents. I wonder what they are going to blame now...

i'm sorry, but you really have to stop speaking out of your ass on things that you don't know or understand. This is not true, it is entirely dependent on the manufacturer.

that doesn't make sense though...you can start the car with the key fob and then drive away without it? I don't think so....

Just because it doesn't make sense doesn't mean it isn't so.

i've tried it before.. started my car, left the key fob at home, and drove around town. It says that the key is not detected, but that's all.
