i know x-mas isnt for a while but lol thinking of buying myself a new laptop around boxing day/xmas and this is in the running for the one im thinking of getting? ... i have no expericence with asus but this thing is a beast of a labtop seeing as id be probly using it mostly for gaming this would be perfect. i have right now a 6 year old compaq one that i bought in 06-07 to play wow. but after it died on me the other day and i lost everything! and i had to reformat it .im planing on replacing it.  http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=66%2C67%2C68,3370&webid=343099&affixedcode=WW |

What type of games?
Depending on what you're planning on doing, some games are more CPU intensive while others are more graphics intensive.
Nothing beats building a PC though.

Who still PC games here? I really only play NHL 11 soon 12 on my XBox 360 since 09 was the final year on the PC and it was still the old previous gen, and the two games I play the most on PC, Unreal Tournament 2004 and Simcity 4 can be played on any computer really.

Yea gaming computers are expensive. The last great computer I built was back in 2001. Oh my iMac in 2006 ran PC games like Need For Speed Most Wanted pretty well at mid settings and resolution but I have it on my XBox 360 and I can play it in 720p.
I think my next laptop will have an Intel HD3000 which is not bad for an integrated video card, performs as well as a lower end ATI/NVidia card. I made the mistake of thinking a laptop with an Intel GMA950 would be good enough for work. AutoCAD sucks on this computer.

like i payed for my compaq back in the day 1300$ and it was hellaa fast at the time but now its not up to par lol

I dont PC game as much, just some COD, BF and WoW used to play L4D as well. But when my $700 vid card shit the bed and I replaced it with a $200 one that performs twice as good I gave up trying to have a "ultimate gaming" rig.

I just built a new PC, last one was 3yr old multimedia pc that got the job done but needed a new one b/c our oooolder computer died. Anyways, unless you absolutely need a laptop for the portability I would suggest a tower pc. So much better for upgrades and what not. I think I saw a forum member trying to unload a i7 processor for 300$ a week or two ago so you might wanna check it out? I bought my parts from NCIX and built it myself. Was under a grand with windows 7 OEM all in. |

I can spec out a gaming pc that can play most of today's games for $700.
Maybe less.
I haven't actually played on a console for over 3 years. I built this PC two years ago and it can still handle everything I throw at it today.
