6.4 magnitude earthquake just past noon today off the west coast of the island...

Hope no one was injured?

They say no risk of tsunamies so hopefully everythings good especially since I'll be on a BC Ferry in the next 4 hrs or so...

Dedicated thread, because the discussion in the Random Chat Threat was not enough. Lol.

I've heard reports of ruffling blinds, overzealous liquor store stockers, and mini tsunamis in backyard swimming pools.

I live on the river in Port Alberni - Pacific Ocean Inlet - 1964 Tsunami took out the lower flats of the town ... yesterday was weird ... didn't feel the quake but all I could think about was getting my son (Spartacus - cat) to higher ground ;-)  Negatives of living on the river ;-)

If a quake hits, get a vhf radio and tune it to ch16.  Coast Guard Radio gets the first word on whether or not a Tsunami is issued or not.  We were notified 1 minute after the quake. 
Especially in Port Alberni, it has happened before.
