Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone knows what the message " LO SYSTEM BATTERY" message indicates when displayed on the keypad? I'm thinking it's either the battery backup or possibly the small battery on the circuit board needs replacing? The user guide only states to call the alarm company for a service, so trying to save a service call if I can fix myself.
Thanks

LOL What alarm system is it?
Usually it means that the battery backup on your alarm is running low or not holding a charge anymore. Make sure also that you have power going to your alarm panel. Even make sure that the breaker isn't tripped on the outlet that your alarm is plugged into.

Wierd - I just had the exact same issue with my alarm a couple of days ago.
It's the backup battery for the system - used to maintain alarm functionality in the case of a power outage. It's a large black battery (at least for my alarm) which doesn't look like something you could get easily.
My alarm guy came out and tested it, confirmed it was faulty and replaced it. Didn't cost anything as the system is only a year old and he said the battery should last at least 3.

As people above had said...it's the battery needs replacement. Find the panel, copy down the voltage, capacity and measure the approx size. A replacement is around $25.

It could be the main battery backup or it could be the battery in a detector/sensor in the system. Mine displays it as well and beeps all fricken night if the smoke detector battery is low.

If it's the battery, get the model number and such, hell take a picture and bring it to Battery World over on Boundary near East 1st. He'll hook you up with a new one.

Had the same thing happen to my parents with the backup battery failing. It will continue to work as long as your mains power stays on, but if there is a power outage it won't be active.
If it is the backup battery you can pull the thing out, take it with you to somewhere that sells these batteries and just get them to give you an identical battery.
The battery probably won't be cheap though.

Actually, like I said, Battery World is pretty cheap. I'm sure if you called with with a model number he could quote you a price.

We got ours from Edmonds Battery. It's on Edmonds St near Kingsway. No idea how my mom found that place. http://g.co/maps/q656d

thanks guys. I'll grab a new battery this week. The existing one has September 2009 written on it, so looks like a 2 year life span.
