My wife and I took the sky train to downtown from Oakridge Centre yesterday because it was the only place I could think of for free street parking. But is there a place in Richmond we can park so I didn't have to cross the Oak Street bridge?  I normally drop my wife at Lansdowne Centre when she goes alone downtown but I don't think it's safe to park there unless I'm shopping. Do they check and tow if I leave my car there?

The River Rock has a park and ride lot. I think it is $2 to park there all day?

Lansdowne attracts lots of park 'n ride and they do get people from time to time for leaving the lot. Personally not worth the risk. As mentioned by Derrick, RiverRock has park 'n ride for $2 (or $2.5). How long you guys are gone for? Another way is park at Richmond Public Library behind Richmond Center. Then take a short walk toward Brighthouse station. I think they are 3hrs parking.

I was concerned about River Rock since Kev's car was trashed during the riots. I'm sure that was a one off deal but I didn't know how safe it was today. I would rather not pay as well. Lansdowne Center sounds risky if I'm away for 3 hours but perhaps the Library might be ok.  Is there any street parking anywhere?

i think kev's ride was smashed outside the river rock parkade though...he was parked on the gravel pit area under the train overpass. different story parking inside river rock parkade as there's surveillance 24/7.

i used to work at RPL and they don't ticket or tow there. no one checks to enforce the 3 hour policy.

what you could do is park at river rock, walk thru the casino to the skytrain.

Thanks. Thought I would ask and see because sometimes it's more convenient to meet downtown clients or go to dinners without the car. Parking is expensive down there and meter parking is just ridiculous unless I'm parking for less than an hour.

why not take the bus to the canada line? it's a PITA but saves you from having to drive and worry about your parked car.

The bus stop is a 30 minute walk from my place, Translink built the concrete platform for the bench and sign but never got a bus to travel down to this new area. In 30 minutes I could drive to Richmond and be on the train! Smiley

River rock covered parkade. Cough up the 2 bucks. Your car will not be under surveillance while parked on a street somewhere. And the gas from Richmond to oak ridge is probably a buck itself.
