Hey guys,

Not on the boards as much these days as Sport Cards have made a return as my hobby and I spend more of my forum time on SCF ( sportcardforums)

Just wondering if there are any local collectors here.

Also there is a huge hockey day in canada show at the oval in Richmond this Saturday. Linden and Michael Buble will be there. Definitely worth to check out! and it's free.

that's all for now.

my favs are. upper deck , gretzky promo and roy promo cards, Ken griffey Jr rookie card (not the most valuable, but most memorable).

haha yeah it's so fun.

Sorta got back into it last July and dug out a lot of my old stuff mostly from the 90's.

I also started selling them on ebay and 90's stuff from the NBA has a pretty big market.

I stopped collecting in 95 when they jacked up the prices of sports cards. Remember when you could get a pack of 10 O-Pee-Chee cards with a stick of gum for 50 cents? Well I really liked the Fleer Ultra cards they released for 92-93, they were worth the $2 a pack imo. My first set of cards were Score, craptastic at best but they got me started lol. I'll probably get my oldest into hockey cards in a couple of years, too bad it's an expensive hobby these days. It's not something where you can get $2 for mowing someone's lawn and run to a store to buy a pack anymore. Sad

Oh, I have a complete 90-91 Pro Set Series 1, pretty funny article on what's probably the crappiest cards ever, but I've always had a soft spot for Pro Set lol. http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2010/11/16/the-worst-hockey-cards-of-all-time-1990-91-pro-set-hockey/

In 92-93, aside from Upper Deck, they produced the best cards IMO, but it wasn't enough to stop them from going bankrupt.

I'll have to grab my cards, I know where they are. Grin

The forum has a list of average going rate for cards? Maybe I can get some extra fund from the cards.

best place to see is by doing a search on ebay and look at the "completed sales"

There is buy and sell on that forum but like any forum there is a lot of low balling going around. I prefer to sell through eBay despite the fees. The energy and time saved from those low ballers is worth the eBay fee imo.

I also have some old cards tucked away. I should see how much they are worth on Ebay.

Mainly have early 90's stuff.

McDonalds sets are usually worth keeping. Limited run and everything McDonalds is collectible.

I just read in the latest Beckett. A graded MINT 10.0 Wayne Gretzky Rookie card sold for $94,000.00

I believe the book value is around $700.

The most $$ Crosby Rookie is book value at 10K.

I have a bunch of old cards stashed away to pay for my retirement one day lol. Couple complete sets of each Pro Set and Upper Deck hockey cards, Trevor Linden, Cliff Ronning and Geoff Courtnall rookie cards among other more famous players. Also some very rare comic books stashed away and several coin sets from years ago Smiley
I'll pull them out again when I have kids and show them my old hobbies from my younger years and hopefully help them start collections like I did.

Would unopened packages of the MC'Ds be worth it? I have a bunch of them.

If you do eBay there is no harm in throwing it on there and see what happens.

I totally forgot about my card collection, but I have some 89-95 complete sets stashed away back at my parent's house.
Mostly baseball and some hockey (Upper Deck and ProSet).

I even have some baseball cards from the late 60's... in mint as well..
Still no clue how much they would be worth... I should pickup a Beckett and see.

What's a Wayne Gretzky rookie card worth these days in pretty much mint condition?
