I have been looking once in a while at the Mazda6. What are your thoughts? Do you think they are worth the appox. 35K. Either the 4dr, sport or sport wagon.

for that price tag i would probably go for the TSX.. but obviously some think its worth it, to each their own.. don't get me wrong, it's a nice car.. but if you were thinkin of trading your car in for one, i'd say wait.. it's about time the 6 would get a replacement, new model should be coming soon

with those dramatic changes they'll be putting in to the 2007 Mazda3...who knows what they'll come up with with the Mazda6...if you can wait a few more months...wait...should be worth it...

A friend has a 6 sport (the "sedan hatchback", not the wagon). Don't tell him I said this, but I really like it. I would have bought one too, but the extra $10K would have broken the bank. The TSX is in the same ball park, but I don't think it has the interior space of the 6.

Yeah, I was thinking about getting the 6 too, but the extra $10K was a bit much for me. I think if I had the money I would be torn between the 6 and the TSX. I like both, but true that TSX is not as roomy. Then there's also the TL which I really like, but of course much more expensive.

Thats the reason I didnt purchase the 6 in the 1st place. I didnt see it was worth 10K extra for just a little bit more of a car.

^^^ And significantly worse gas mileage. Going from 45mpg in my Civic to 35mpg in the M3 was hard enough.

There are alot of sexy chinese (asian) girls that are sexy. Just because your a CBC doesnt mean your a banana either. IMO. Made in US = garbage...unless they adhere to traditional Japanese Automanufacturer Standards.

It's a mistake, IMO, to generalize about automobiles from place of manufacture. I'd trust a Toyota assembled in China more than I would a VW assembled in Mexico. From my limited experience with the auto industry (and yes, it goes beyond walking into dealership ) management is the reason for the difference between domestic and foreign quality.

I have been looking once in a while at the Mazda6. What are your thoughts? Do you think they are worth the appox. 35K. Either the 4dr, sport or sport wagon.
For a few thousands more, you could buy a G35 sedan. Not that the G35 is God's gift to man or anything, but the 280hp RWD VQ35DE is far superior than any Mazda V6 motor. The struts design of the 6 is absolutely no match for the multi-link front of the G35. Finally, not to mention the Nissan quality that can be seen through the interior materials, aluminum suspension components, stronger auto-gearbox, well you get the idea. Oh, for a few thousands more, you don't have to be stuck with FWD. So, is the 6 worth it? To me, no because there are better value cars out there. But there are always people that are willing to shell out $35,000 for an American built Mazda. I am from a European family that has high standards for cars. My parents only drive Porsches and BMWs. As much as my father hates to admit it, he thinks the G35 is a car that could give the 330i a run for the money, and the G35 is about $15,000 cheaper. Although I am a little different, being into Japanese muscles and value, I still don't think the 6 is worth the money, but mainly because the competitions are doing too well. The Mazda3 is of decent value, in my eyes, only because it is the only econo-sedan that is built in Japan.

Poor analogies. Many American built imports can look pretty, but their beauty is only skin deep. They break down more often, have higher recall rates than domestically built imports (imports built on their home plants). Yes, it is statistically proven by MSN auto.

lol, yikes. A lot of ignorant generalizations here IMO. I don't really want to get into much of it. However, I'll give you my anecdotal experience.
Japanese built Mazda 3, 40,000 kms: fuel pump replaced, brakes squealing, driver's seat worn.
American built Accord, 70,000 kms: not a problem.
I'm sure plenty of you have actually owned American built vehicles and are more qualified to make the blanket statements you have.
Back on topic, the Mazda 6 is a great little car. The driver's choice of the family car segment. Although a little pricey new, there is plenty of negotiating room as they tend to be slower movers. If you are willing to buy used, the cars have depreciated a lot & make great used car buys compared to Honda or Toyota models.
