The Maxima looks like a Japanese Buick. I Loved the old style. Great car with a great engine!

i looked at the Sentra SE-R when I was shopping for cars. test drove it....the car is fast but the interior was so freakin cheap that it just turned me right of. Good engine though, pulls very strong. Torque steer was very apparent on that car, even more so than on the 3. But the car had great potential.....already had a factory limited slip.

Ooops!
I meant Altima SE-R. Now you can even get a 5-speed 3.5 SE Altima for under 30K!
That's 250 HP for less than $30,000 CDN.

the problem with nissan is that their lower end models have the cheap interior.

Yup, I test-drove the Sentra SE-R.
Nice power, but the ergonomics and amenities are nothing compared to our Mazda3.

well i find the interiors of nissan and infinite to be cheap in general. It just doesn't have the nice feel. though the only car that I didn't mind the interior was the 350z.

I am driving a rental Mazda6 at the moment from Avis. IMO, it absolutely is not worth it. The one is am driving has 22,000km. The car wobbles at speeds greater than 110km/h. The interior is poorly fashioned and lacks style. My mazda3 was soo much more stylish and fun to drive. Again this is just a base model rental so this might be the reason it sucks so bad in my case.

You shouldn't judge a car solely on your rental experience. Rental cars are beat to hell and probably not properly maintained.

Very true. But still they do give you a very good idea about the car. I recently drove a rental 300 and that car had twice the milage but drove like a beast. Again my opinion is solely based on my rental base model Mazda6 experience and i hope i made it very clear. Lastly i might add that in a way a rental gives one an even greater opportunity to examine the car in depth. Because you are able to drive it like you stole it hence pushing it to its limit and since most rentals are relatively new with low milage, you can see first hand what a car is capable of. Road test dint give you enough time with the car to examine it in detail and also when the sales person is breathing down your neck and you feel reluctant to drive it the way you want. IMHO

And our point is, it's not fair to judge a vehicle based on driving a heavily abused base model iteration of it.
I guess all Mazda 3's are terrible vehicles because I had a service loaner with ugly tan interior, scratched up plastics, couldn't track straight and the transmission was hunting for gears.
Do you get it?

I acknowledge your point and i agree with it. But i hope you agree that on the flip side, the opposite is also true that sometimes you can gain a better idea about the car especially its handling capabilities. Note that not all rentals or loaners are beat up. A lot of them just too new. Bottom line is that to reach a concrete decision, one needs to drive a few different cars of the same kind. Just like in any science experiment, you need to have more than one independent trial.

Very well said, so how many mazda 6's have you test driven to base your opinion on?

The problem i find with this mazda6 is that it has an extremely wide turn. U-turns are extremely hard and in most cases they turn into 3 point turn. And a 3 point turn on a narrow street turns into a 4 or even 5 point turn. I wonder now how this compares to a mazda3. Anyone knows?

The mazda6 has an unusally wide turning radius. The new one was supposed to correct this.
