The "8" name would probably sell better in China, and the article mentions that it's being released in Hong Kong as the Mazda8. Doesn't "8" sound like the word for prosperity (or something like that) in either Mandarin or Cantonese?

3 must sound like "going poor" or something in Chinese. I certainly feel the car payments every month.

Need the 6 from an Mazda6 and the 9 from the upcoming Mazda9. Nah, they'll never make a 9. It wouldn't sell in Germany.
You could just take two 6's from the M6 and turn one upside down. Then you have a Mazda 69!

Since the MPV is being dropped in NA, the CX-9 will 'replace' it ...I've seen exterior photos but, they don't impress me. It looks like an SUV I'll bet insurance companys will like that too. My MPV is $1580 a year, if I had a SUV it would be about $400 more a year.

i just went and looked at the spy pics for the CX-9
Edmunds.com said it will replace the aging MPV..
but no doubt, i also agree that it just looks like an SUV and probably is one rather than a minivan it just looks like a jacked-up and super-sized mazda 3 if u ask me..
being bigger than the CX7, i think it looks more proportionally right than the CX7...kinda like the X5 vs X3

Just got Mazda's magazine "Intersections" in the mail today. They have 2 photos (1 interior / 1exterior) and a very small write up on the CX-9;
In a nut shell;
V6 3.5L DOHC at est. 250HP 6 spd optional AWD 2 trim levels in Canada 7 passenger

ok.. optional AWD and 2 trim levels (most likely just GS and GT again) are expected 7 passengers are also expected as it is to replace the MPV
3.5L V6... now that's a bit surprising..
anyone knows wut other model in the lineup uses the 3.5 V6?

3.5 V6 is from Ford, They are going to use it across their lines. I imagine Mazda will too. After all it takes regular Gas. Ford is so happy about this six.
CX-9 is simply a stretched CX-7, at least from the photos I have seen in order to allow for third row.

If the base CX-7 is going for about $30G I'm almost scared to see what the CX-9 base will cost. Looks like they could approach Odyssey ($35G) pricing If I was in the market right now I'd grab either a M5 or if you need more room an 06 MPV in a hurry.

actually... CX7 costs approx 32,300
yeah... i think that CX9 could well be like odessey pricing.. which is no good for a "minivan" how can they charge so much more (double than the chryslers)
