So um... then uh... wow I wish I wasn't so confused... I'm usually much smrter than this.
So are "Daily hits" and "hits" two different numbers? Daily hits = average hits per day, hits=hits on June 25?

yeah we have daily hits so the number of hits on June 25th and the TOTAL number of hits on June 25th from the day we announced the raffle. Correct me if I'm wrong here Absinthe. I dont' tend to do well with numbers but that's pretty much how it goes.

The Daily Hits mentioned above is the same as Hits, which is the number of visitors on that given day. In this case, June 25th, 2006.

Daily hits and hits can't be the same... otherwise y always equals 0, doesn't it? Anyways, it doesn't matter, it was pure curiosity... I didn't mean to thread jack Can I have ticket #1, just in case y always does equal 0 though?

You take the mod of the first calculation: mod(daily hit / no of tickets). Hence you lose any remainder from the quotient. Therefore the final result can be equal to one only if there is no remainder from the first calculation. Now that's clear, WHO WANTS TICKETS?

Daily hits and hits can't be the same... otherwise y always equals 0, doesn't it? Anyways, it doesn't matter, it was pure curiosity... I didn't mean to thread jack Can I have ticket #1, just in case y always does equal 0 though? Daily hits is no different than hits in the formula. I should just remove the word "Daily" in the formula to avoid any more confusion. Anyway, here's an example from the previous raffle: Hits = 4474. Tickets = 85. Hits / Tickets = x strip x of decimals Hits - (x * tickets) = y y+1 = winner 4474 / 85 = 52.63. Strip x of decimals = 52. 4474 - (52 * 85) = 54. 54 + 1 = 55. Winner = Ticket# 55. Hope that explains it. Btw, if anyone can find a more effective formula, please let me know. The result has to be random and within the number of tickets sold.
