I prefer using imageshack as a host for sig pics. They have always been reliable. Some photo-hosting sites will either not allow hotlinking entirely, or limit the bandwith for a particular account.

Well if he was using his own signature instead of stealing a copy written one it might work better for him. That photo belongs to a friend of mine . He took it from a sig on another forum. Lame in the extreme. Sorry but if you cant come up with your own signature so you steal someone else's WTF. He didnt even bother to copy it to his computer he just linked it from mazda3forums.com. The person taking a picture is considered the copywriter of that picture. It is owned by him . If you take that image without written permission from the person it is stealing pure and simple. I don't want to stir shit here but that should be discouraged by the owner of this site and his or her staff. The sig doesn't even match his car. He has an I model and the sig is of a S version. Maybe they didnt understand what they were doing but just because you see an image you like doesn't mean you can just take it without permission............................................... Clue

Clue. ?You came all the way over here just because someone is using colorblindtyler's pic as a signature?
Maybe you should just consider it as a form of flattery cuz maybe sanmaz actually likes your buddy's car...
Check out the avatars of the m3f members. ?I can bet you that over half of them are not created by the members themselves AND did not seek permission from the owner to use it...
C'mon man. ?It isn't that serious...
If colorblindtyler does not like sanmaz using his pic, then I'm sure a simple pm / email would suffice.

First off I didnt come over here looking for anything but to check stuff out. How would you feel if someone had stolen your photo . And as far as others doing the same it is theft. Flattery or not it isn't right and it needs to be corrected or he may decide to take this a step further. He even said it was his car) Cease to use the sig period...... Pictures are the property of the person who captured the image. Read any copy write laws on Photography you will find that I am correct. So please just speak to the offending party and ask them to not use the photo........ Thanks..................... Clue A pm will be going to sanmaz3_84 as well.

THANK YOU Tony!!! But I can take it from here...
HELLO Clue! I understand ur frustrations! But I was simply amazed of ur friends? or is it your? signature! I do agree with you that I violated a moral code of signatures. And would like to apologize for doing that. I was really impressed with the signature and got over excited and used it as my own. I hope you understand my situation and hope we come to an agreement and co-exist on-line! After all we're adults here and we should resolve this in a proper manner.
Yours Respectively,
Sanmaz3_84

Clue sent me a PM last night on another forum about this... I initially didn't want to sign up on a forum I wouldn't regularly post in, and I was busy with something else, so I gave him the go ahead to see why sanmaz was using my old signature. I was very flattered that someone would use my picture, but at the same time felt kinda cheated since someone was using it as their own signature, which I always felt was supposed to show off their own car. If you (sanmaz) wanted to use one of my pictures, you could have sent me a message somewhere asking permission, and I'd most likely have no problem with it. I was very impressed with how you reacted to all this (in an adult way, as opposed to the typical internet manner of getting defensive and name calling), so I felt like I should join up to respond. If you guys wanna see more pictures, there's some here http://kevinsmazda3for.s10.forumsplace.com/viewtopic.php?t=191And more here http://www.mazda3forums.com/index.php?topic=52649.0Thanks for all the kind words myti, tony, and sanmaz.

When the thread was originally posted, RJ (sanmaz) was indeed trying to post a pic of his own vehicle. Since then, he has gone through countless sig pics and posted that one up. There appears to be a misunderstanding on your part. There is little sense, however, coming onto the forum flaming our members. Real M3F quality right there. I hope you enjoyed your stay and your minimal contribution will not be lost by our members. Ciao Kev

M3F = high school drama.
And FYI, when dealing with audio/visual content, the illegal usage of it would be classified as piracy or theft, not copyright. And that, you would have a hard time proving as the person using it would have to be profiting from it.
Grow up guys, it's a sig pic.

Ok so sanmaz3_84 pmed me to let me know he will stop using the sig. Problem solved... I have actually been a member here for quite a while and even though I'm not active here I do browse the board's some... I mostly wanted sanmaz3_84 to understand that he was using the photo illegally I wasnt looking to get the flame war going. Just a little info on this subject........ And FYI, when dealing with audio/visual content, the illegal usage of it would be classified as piracy or theft, I never said it wasn't theft but when dealing with a photo it is an infringement of the photographers rights He owns the copyright to that photo.... What is "copyright infringement", anyway? Legally, the person who holds the copyright to a photo has the absolute right to control how you use that photo -- or to deny you the right to use that photo at all. Any unauthorized usage is an "infringement" of the copyright. This INCLUDES using the picture for "reference" in a derivative work. It also includes use of images BEYOND that which has been legitimately purchased. For example, offering images for resale without first obtaining a template license would be an infringement of copyright. Could I be sued for using somebody else's work? How about quotes or samples? If you use a copyrighted work without authorization, the owner may be entitled to bring an infringement action against you. There are circumstances under the fair use doctrine where a quote or a sample may be used without permission. However, in cases of doubt, the Copyright Office recommends that permission be obtained. Thanks for the input the problem has been taken care of which was my original intent....... Thanks ........................ Clue

really you're just making a big deal out of it.. sure sanmaz used a picture that did not belong to him, but being a local community, we all know that that wasn't his car. His car is a white gs sedan with black rims, nowhere similar to a S model with enkei rims.. this is the internet, people steal pictures all the time. It's not like you could get him in trouble because he's not using the picture for advertising purposes. This is not like where shibby's car was used for ebay purposes, that he would have a case.. really, under the internet, even if he used a picture, the internet police isn't going to come and arrest him.. next time, just tag your own sig, put your own name on it, a watermark or something if you don't want people to use that picture.. it's almost like saying, you can't use the picture of my car for your desktop wallpaper because you don't have permission for it. i'll be the first to say it.. no one gives a rats ass here
and more often than none, i've seen people post pictures of other users rides on m3f.. and at times i've even seen rides of members at bcmazda3 show up on m3f without the users permission.. but was anything done about it really?
