Was at Hennessey Restaurant and Lounge yesterday night.
Food was great. Atmosphere was pretty decent. Evening comedy show was fun too.
The service was awful. Slow all night, but the kicker was that in my party of ten, the servers totally screwed up the bill. For one, they didn't split the bill per-person - fair enough, we didn't ask for it. But they gave us two bills (because there were two servers!?) and items we ordered were on a particular bill depending on who we asked. WTF? Just give us one fat bill and it'd be a lot easier to figure out. But no, the orders were interlaced and practically everyone had at least an item on each bill. We ended up spending some 15 minutes consolidating the bill. To add insult to injury, we were charged a 17% gratuity right on the bill. It's a couple percentile higher than what I'd normally tip on the absolute best service and I would normally have no problems paying it if we didn't have to deal with this frickin' pile. Good thing someone personally knew the owner who was cool and understanding as he knocked off some of the bill and eventually helped us sort it out after another 15 minutes. But what a disorganized ending to the night...

Has anyone been to the Sui Sha Ya on Lougheed? (the one near coquitlam center) I was going to try it... but walked in and just got a "dirty" vibe. Something just told me I didn't want the fish they were going to serve me I used to love the sui sha ya on Broadway, near oak... then it changed management and started to suck though. Anyways.. anyone been?

Anyways.. anyone been? I go there once in a while because some of my friends believe eatting all you can eat cheap sushi is better than spending same amount of a decent meal from Nagano. (another sushi place near Coquitlam Center) Food isn't that spectacular and the quality of service is pretty jack bad. The sense of a "dirty" vibe is correct, it isn't well kept but what can you expect X__x"

Awesome thread tho
Went to Estea in Burnaby a couple months back with my brother and some friends - Waitress #1 did not speak or understand english.. brought an order that was completely wrong.. brought back a 2nd order and gave it to someone else.. Waitress #2 brought us our drinks... 20 mins later.. understood english better but was still retarded overall *no offense to the mentally challenged*
Decided to try them again last month with some cantonese speaking friends
New waitress.. same problems.. wrong order twice and drinks were super slow. Food was meh - small in quantity and lackluster in quality.
Will never go back there again.
and wtf is up with the time limit? apparently you can't eat and drink for longer than a set limit (i forget what it was).. so dumb!

Capone's in Yaletown.
The snobbiest shithole I've ever been to. Outrageous prices, horrible service and after I zero tipped them, they tried to force through a higher charge on my cc. Called my credit card company right away and had the issue rectified.
Never again. Happened last year but I'm still jaded from that experience.

Are you serious? So if you've agreed (and signed on the slip) to pay $x and they try to get more from your cc, isn't that kind of illegal?

Yes it is! It's called fraud. Apparently the place is aptly named "Capone's"! The owner's name: Alphonse by any chance? Al for short?

It was worked out between the credit card company and Capone's. They wouldn't give me any details.

So I'm guessing you only found out cuz you were comparing your receipts to the cc invoice?

Yes. If there is an instance I zero-tip, I check my cc charge the next day just to make sure.

that totally sucks - as most folks don't check their cc statements that carefully.
I wonder what the 'resolution' between Capone and cc company was. I hope they didn't just sweep the issue under the carpet - although it wouldn't surprise me if they did...
