Of course as soon as I typed my previous message and clicked "Show unread posts..." I got a server error. Oh, and the search function is also slow for me and often gives me a server error.

The search function has always been slow. And sometimes you have to search the same query twice in order for it to even work.
I am only a moderator. I don't have access to any of the backend.

very slow....painfully slow. I almost couldn't do a forum backup last night. At work the forum has been stupidly slow to the point where it takes 3 to 5 mins to load. I've talked to Hidz about it and the only thing we could come up with is that our site could be on a server that hosts a high traffic site.

Hmm...
Faster site = Better server.
Better server = More costs.
More costs = More PM fee.
More PM fee = Members will complain.
So faster site = members will complain??

I'll look into moving to a new server without costing so much. Still, the cost will be tripled or more annually.

it was fine like 2 months ago.
but then all of a sudden it wouldnt load at all, or 56K modem speeds. and then 5 moinutes later its lightning fast again.
I guess I shouldnt say the site is slow, but rather inconsistent.

I agree about the inconsistency. It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue but something with the server software.
